Stir-Fried Rump Steak Recipe

Ingredients :

400 g (12 oz)

2 tablespoons

1/2 teaspoon

2 tablespoons

200 g (6 1/2 oz)

1 1/2 teaspoons

1/2 cup

1 teaspoon

1/4 teaspoon

Rump steak, finely sliced

Soy sauce

Fresh ginger, grated

Peanut oil

Snow peas, topped and tailed

Cornflour

Beef stock

Soy sauce, extra

Sesame  oil

Method :
  • Place the beef in a dish. Mix the soy sauce and ginger and stir through the meat to coat it.

  • Heat the oil in a wok or heavy-based frying pan, swirling gently to coat the base and sides.

  • Add the beef and snow peas and stir-fry over high heat for 2 minutes or until the meat changes color.

  • Mix the cornflour in a little of the stock.

  • Add the cornflour to the wok with the remaining stock, extra soy sauce and the sesame oil.

  • Stir until the sauce boils and thickens.

  • Serve with steamed rice.

Note  : Placing the meat in the freezer for about 30 minutes prior to slicing will firm it and make the slicing much easier.
