Pounded Prawn Paste Recipe

Ingredients :

2 tablespoons

4 cloves

2 teaspoons

1 teaspoon

Prawn powder

Dried prawn paste

Medium onion

Garlic

Chili powder

Salt

Juice of half a lemon

Method :
  • Press the dried prawn paste into a flat cake.

  • Wrap in foil and put under a hot griller for 15 minutes, turning to cook both sides.

  • Wrap onions and garlic in foil and put under griller with the dried prawn paste.

  • These ingredients are pounded together in a mortar and pestle and the remaining ingredients mixed in.

  • Alternatively, the crumbled dried prawn paste, peeled onions and garlic can be blended in an electric blender with lemon juice and combined with other ingredients.

Note : To be eaten in very small quantities with rice as accompaniments.
